| Resting within the Daniel Boone Historic District, Matson Hill Park is a 68-acre facility that provides a unique opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts that wish to escape into a heavily forested area. Designed with limited outside development, the park reflects the natural surroundings found in the area during the time of Boone’s life. Three miles of rugged, natural trail are currently open to the hikers and bicyclists. Recent acquisitions by the Department of the Boone-Hays property (an extension of the Boone family) and an additional section adjacent to the park will add more than 400 acres - featuring an interpretive area that focuses on the family heritage. Master planning for the site is now underway, and the addition is expected to open to the public in the coming years. | |||
