Run Wild in the Woods through a St. Charles County Park
The St. Charles County Parks Department is hosting its 11th Annual Wild in the Woods Trail Run Series, Saturday, Sept. 29, Oct. 13, and Nov. 3. Participants competing in these off-road races will experience a variety of terrain while running through each scenic St. Charles County Park. Prizes will be awarded to top men and women in their age group. The first 90 pre-registered runners receive a different giveaway at each race.
“Our Wild in the Woods races really tests a runner’s strength and character,” said Bettie Yahn-Kramer. “These races can be challenging, yet fun and exciting, as runners make their way through paved and natural-surface trails throughout our parks.”
Each Wild in the Woods Trail Run begins at 9 a.m., on the following dates and park locations:
Oct. 13 at Indian Camp Creek Park, 2679 Dietrich Road near Wentzville. The 10-mile race course features varied terrain with a few hills. Runners travel over paved and natural-surface trails. Meet at the Lakeside Pavilion in the Park. Pre-register for this race before Oct. 4 deadline and pay only $25 fee.
Nov. 3 at Broemmelsiek Park, 1615 Schwede Road, south of O’Fallon. The five-mile race course is rugged with mainly flat to rolling terrain and a few long climbs. Runners travel over multi-use trails and through prairies. Meet at Shelter # 6 in the park. Pre-register for this race before Oct. 25 deadline and pay only $25 fee.
